Meet Barbara Bal

Barbara Bal is the Conservative Candidate for Nepean for the 45th General Election.

Barbara brings a lifetime of dedicated service to Canadians and Ottawa residents to the riding of Nepean. She has served as a reserve member of the Royal Canadian Artillery (RCA) for a decade and then as a public safety professional for over 25 years. During that time, she has had the opportunity to meet with residents across the city and learn about what matters to them most.

Barb was raised on a dairy farm in Southern Ontario. There she learned the value of family, hard work, and the importance of personal character.

She has been an Ottawa resident since 2001, and has been an active community volunteer while managing the pressures of a demanding career and raising a family. She have served on the executive of her local Community Association for nine years and volunteered with many other community organizations and initiatives, including the Nepean Minor Hockey Association, the Nepean Wildcats and le Conseil d’école Maurice-Lapointe.

Barbara has also shown courage and integrity in advocating for vulnerable and marginalized people. Her advocacy has delivered landmark decisions that have advanced equity and fairness in Ontario workplaces.

She has an undergraduate degree from Redeemer University in Hamilton and an MBA at the Royal Military College in Kingston.

Barbara met and married her husband here in Ottawa and they are the proud parents of three teenagers. They’re proud to call Nepean home.
